francois’s place
A far from definitive list of links to stuff related or of interest to me.
Work-related
- User experience director at Isotoma since May 2007. Recent work includes MindShare and The Key
- Before that, I worked at pres.co / Wheel / LBi for 7 years. I founded Wheel's information architecture department in 2002. Clients included First Choice, Unilever, BAE Systems, Eurostar, Tourism Ireland, the Blacks Leisure Group, Marks & Spencer and Henderson Global Investors.

Other stuff I've done
- Forkd – Save your favourite recipes forever. Share them with the world. Add photos. Remix recipes. Make friends. Now in feta testing!
- Japan trip, April 2005
- Japan travelogue (April 2003)
- 5 years, 5000 bookmarks
On Thursday 3 February 2005, I added my 5000th bookmark. An overview. (Reached 7000 on 25/10/06.)
- Paused blog. Not updated any more, but you may still find some things of interest
- Also over there, my bookmarklets compilation. If you do web development, you need these!
- Portfolio, under /work, is hopelessly out of date so only of nostalgic interest, as is this collection of usability links.
- I blog occasionally on Isotoma.com (where I work)
- My memetargets mailing list, including all 278 mails from 2004-2007
- Bookmarks on Netvouz
- Comments I've left around the web

What I'm listening to
Last week I listened to
Mailing lists I recommend
- Evolt.org thelist
General web design, from front-end to back-end, HTML to CSS, Photoshop to Flash, accessibilility to usability.
- Webdesign-L
Exactly the same scope as evolt. Historically a bit more glamorous (and elitist), from patronage of gurus like Zeldman and Steve Champeon. Lately a little quieter. One problem: archives not available online.
- CSS-Discuss
The narrow topic focus makes this list wonderfully un-noisy. Very busy.
- CHI-WEB
The best usability list around, populated by the great and the good. Very effectively moderated and stringent posting policy.
- Web Accessibility Initiative mailing list
I'm subscribed, but am not really crazy about it. A bit over-political sometimes. Evolt and Webdesign-L are usually just as good to discuss accessibility topics.
- Webmasterworld: Search engine marketing
A bulletin board rather than a mailing list, this is still the best place to discuss search engine marketing. A bit of sanity amongst the sharks that usually befoul these waters.
- SIGIA-L
Information Architecture
- CMS-list
Content Management Systems
- Don't forget netiquette!
